Circumcision is one of the oldest and most commonly performed elective surgical procedure today. Circumcision is done mainly for health and religious reasons. Other reasons include personal, social and cultural. Though circumcision is not mentioned in the Quran, circumcision is mandatory for every male and female, for whom it signifies a physical and spiritual purification. For Jews,  the 8th day is a must, and many Christian (though not required) practice circumcision because Jesus was circumcised. It is interesting to note that circumcision is a practice enjoined by all past prophets
